Human-Computer Symbiosis in Everyday Life: How Pervasive Augmented Reality Creates a Context-Dominant Phygital Reality
This workshop explores how pervasive augmented reality may reshape everyday life when digital systems become continuously present, context-aware, and closely intertwined with human activity. Rather than focusing on single apps or isolated interactions, participants will examine how such technologies could influence perception, decision making and routines, across daily contexts. Through short scenarios and group brainstorming, workshop attendees will reflect on where existing concepts, assumptions, and research approaches may no longer be sufficient and which constructs and methods might be necessary. The workshop is an open, discussion-driven format that encourages discussion on a future Human-Computer symbiosis and their broader implications.
Virtual Worlds Café
The Virtual Worlds Café will invite participants to explore the future of Extended Reality (XR) across multiple domains. Inspired by collaborative café-style discussions, the session will spark dialogue and interactive brainstorming on how XR is transforming areas such as industry, healthcare, education, entertainment, and beyond, in line with XRM 2026 themes. A special focus will be placed on XR in marketing, highlighting its growing role in shaping user engagement and immersive experiences. The workshop encourages open exchange, fresh perspectives, and collective insight into emerging opportunities and challenges at the intersection of physical and virtual worlds.
Beyond the Hype: Best Practices for AI-XR Enabled Education
This interactive session at XRM 2026 explores how Artificial Intelligence and Extended Reality (AI-XR) are transforming education through immersive, adaptive, and intelligent learning environments. Hosted by the Limburg Immersive Technology Network, the session brings together educators, researchers, and industry professionals to share practical experiences, challenges, and best practices. Through lightning case studies, collaborative discussions, and moderated reflection, participants will examine scalable pedagogical approaches, ethical considerations, student engagement, and institutional adoption of AI-XR technologies. The session aims to foster international collaboration, identify actionable insights, and build a community focused on shaping the future of immersive and human-centred education.
Building Your Own AI Experiment in 30 Minutes: A Hands-On Workshop with ResearchChatAI
This hands-on workshop introduces ResearchChatAI, a free, open-source platform that allows researchers to design and run controlled experiments with conversational AI agents. Participants will build their own AI agent, configure experimental conditions, and connect the setup to a survey tool — all without writing a single line of code. The workshop covers practical use cases in management, leadership, and marketing research, and demonstrates how researchers can move beyond vignette-based designs toward ecologically valid AI experiments. Participants should bring a laptop with internet access. No prior technical experience is required.
